  • A safe house is a place that is deliberately out of context. A safe house is "discovered" or no longer a safe house when the context you were trying to escape finds the location. ie. A safe house for a battered woman is a place where the batterer does not know where she is ... it is out of the context of her relationship and therefore safer. ie a safe house for a spy is a place where they can go and not need to be "undercover" ... it is where they can break the context of their cover story safely. ie the answer above referred to a safe house as a place to be with no one else because they felt safer alone than with others. It is were they can break the context of social and society expectations of other people
