    A DDS is a Doctor of Dental Surgery while a DMD is a Doctor of Dental Medicine. They are essentially the same degree requiring the same or similar education. Some schools opt to issue one over the other. When you're looking for endodontists, as long as you're looking at endodontists, it doesn't matter if they have a DDS or DMD.
