Well, the latest theory is that the remains of the ark are up Mount Salaban in Iran and as you can see from this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noah%27s_Ark#The_search_for_Noah.27s_Ark it is 13,000 feet up, which probably explains the lack of visitor's centre and gift shop.
