  • Because they sell garbage that's pretty cheap to make in the first place.
  • They purchase things that don't sell in other stores, left overs and excess production from manufacturers that make too many, or that have a flaw in the merchandise. Not all of their stuff is cheap crap... it could just be that the colors aren't popular or that the product has a bubble in the side or bottom.. check out anything that you buy at these stores, but sometimes you can get great bargains!! It is a good thing though, otherwise this stuff would probably end up in a landfill, and at least it is being used.
  • You would be shocked to know the stuff that mfg. used to throw away and now they sell it. Only because one box on a whole pallet is bent, the whole pallet is thrown out, or if it is not stacked right and it is miscounted, or the crew had a machine break down, and they dont know when it broke down for sure, so they throw out the last hours worth of production... those are the things that the cheap stores buy, and thats why when the merchandise is gone... its gone. The mfg, doesn't have the manpower or can't justify the labor costs to justify fixing and checking the production for errors after it is boxed and palletized, so they throw it out, or sell it to these other companies. My husband worked for a cardboard recycle company, and it was horrible the merchandise that came through there... pallets of cigarettes and shirts, notebooks, toys, paper towels,.. I could go on and on....
  • If you're talking about dollar stores that sell nothing over $1.00 that's easy. There are companies that sell exclusively to them at wholesale. They sell the products in bulk for less than a dollar. Anywhere from 10 cents each to 90 cents each but only sold in bulk. When they buy pens they have to buy 500 at a time or so. The profit is in volume sales. People will buy tons of stuff if it's only a buck.
  • I have question but not to sure, the doller store sell most brnad name product also at cheep price. I just want to know about the quality of product will it be good quality or some where rejected by the manufacture at one point. second thing in every store in canada/usa their is no expiry date mentioned on product so I think from other stores they sell their over stock/expiried items to doller store. I think. Because of those two reasons they are able to sell it at cheep price. But the question is people should by the some food items from the doller store or not since you don't about expiry. Yes thats true even you don't know at good store where they sell at higher price please let me know if you know how to trake about the expiry date on food product sum like Gum, crakers and other food products or oil products such as baby oil and cream.
  • They sell cheap products.
  • A lot of their stock is bought from other stores that have closed or no longer want the merchandise. It is bought for a fraction of its value and the discount is passed on to the customer.
  • Sure, They sell some junk but they also sell some fairly good quality products. They buy left overs, overruns, slightly defects. All that, plus they plan on making money by volumne with less markup. Walmart used to be cheap, but now their prices have gone up to the point that they are just another store.
  • 1. Cash sales only is the first step (interact banking- added later) 2. Suppliers that deal with VOLUME and CASH only Build a huge list of great suppliers 3. For successful dollar stores- Every thing is a dollar- no pricing and tagging ( saves on staffing costs)
