The last departing CEO of Mobil-Exxon walked with over $400 MILLION in separation pay while every day working people are finding it hard to fill their tanks. If you can afford to hire a team of the best lawyers, you can get away with murder (OJ ring a bell?), and if not, even if you're innocent you may join the staggering number of incarcerated. What makes you think in today's world that Capitalism and Democracy go together?

I understand what you wrote, but we were discussing capitalism and democracy going hand in hand not dictatorship:)

I found the following excerpt in an article entitled 'Capitalism vs Democracy. It says what I was trying to:) If you're interested, the link is www.thinkingpeace.com/journal/capitalismvsdemocracy.php
"For while democracy aims to distribute power more equitably among all, capitalism promises that only the worthy few will achieve great wealth. Democracy follows the concerns of "demos," the People, while capitalism follows the bottom line materialism of stuff and money. Democracy, at its best, brings people together to decide vital matters of common import. Capitalism splits the People into fields of separate actors, each looking after his and her own interests, with little regard for those of others. Democracy epitomizes the group, public and cooperative, while capitalism stands for the individual, private and competitive."

Thank you Philip! Nice to have a pleasant exchange of ideas! My favorite description of communism is "each brings to the table what they have, and take from the table what they need." Unfortunately, even the best idea is subject to greed and violence to attain power.
