  • No. There is no advantage to it, and the drugs used to control it are detrimental to the autistic. And the idea that TEACHERS should prescribe it is positively irrational. • My guess is "no". Using electronic terms, I guess that autism is the equivalent of a huge gain but very narrow bandwidth. Using motorcycle terms, I'd say autism is like a very 'peaky' two stroke - very strong but narrow powerband and very little torque anywhere else in the rev range.
  • Autism is more of a step back. Autism means disease of the self. They lack social skills and basic comprehension of certain things... If you are referring to "Rain Man" that movie wasn't accurate. Not all children with Autism are savants... a good majority of them cannot even speak.
  • Having Asperger's(HFA)I've written a few reports on this subject because the idea of notable human evolution is infinitely appealing to me. Autism, in all it's forms and degrees, is entirely capable of providing beneficial mutations to the human race. But evolution doesn't always work in favor of the species in which it is taking place in. In fact, most evolution both beneficial and detrimental, is the result of errors in the exchange of DNA information. Autism could be an evolutionary trial of sorts. Tragic, considering that autistic humans often have it sociologically rough. But I'd suggest researching things like Asperger's, ADHD, and the subject of neurodiversity as a whole. Just know that there are aspects of the autism phenomenon that express jaw dropping human potential.
  • To those thinking that Autism/Aspergers can't be the next step in Evolution, I have but one razor-sharp response : I await with infinite patience for the extinction of your close-minded, limited point of view, nd the culture that perpetuates it. It will happen. Be it in the 21st century, or a 1000 years beyond, your kind must be displaced to make room for variety in humanity. Things change and evolution is the essence of change. Do not believe it has goals of any kind, this is a delusion. In the end the results are the only justification this process needs. What profound changes are coming for us I cannot say, but we Autistic/Aspergers have a key role to play. To the above poster and fellow Asperger's : Indeed I think it is an evolutionary experiment in many ways. Time will tell if we are the Next Step in Human Evolution. Yes, I think Neurodiversity, and general strangeness could have incredible results in due time. Deviate from the norm and keep in mind that the judgments of the close-minded have no bearing on evolution.
