  • I use my boat, (purchased for fresh water) in salt water all the time. After removing from water, I rinse all surfaces and flush motor with fresh water thoroughly. Boats designed exclusively for salt water (offshore) use generally have a deeper V-hull for use in larger waves. The preference for regular offshore use is generally diesel power instead of gas. Diesels do not have an ignition system which can be affected by the salt air and moisture which makes them a more reliable power plant for saltwater use.
  • All boats can be used in either salt OR fresh water. Only the depth makes any difference.
  • A fresh water boat lasts twice as long. The water is not as corrosive and no barnacles.
  • A freshwater boat has no protective paint on the hull, but a saltwater boat does so it can still keep its shine and dosent look rotten.
