If its a new com open it and check if its all correctly plugged in (SAFELY) If u are not so good with computers take it to a com store. If it is correctly plugged in then i would say that it might have burned out. The last possibility could be if u just had bought it return for a new one and hope for the best. besides that if it is a new model check for programs online.

I'd take a guess and say the cable connecting it has jiggled loose. Turn off the machine, unplug it, take the case off, touch a large piece of metal to ground yourself (like the case) and look at the back of the disk drive. Ensure that both cables are firmly in place. One should have four strands, different colours: That's the power cable. If that's not in, the drive won't power on. The other cable is your data cable. If it is not properly inserted, you'll have the drive look like it's working (power) but won't do anything (no data). Be careful: if the cable has come off altogether, re-insert it gently. You don't want to bend the pins. If you've checked it all out it's still a no-go, check the other end of the data cable, that it's attached to the motherboard. Also, if there are two drives on the one line, you might have a master/slave issue.
