Well, first you should be out scouting the area. Kinda get a idea of the grounds you will be hunting at. Second, do not over call the turkey! This will draw other hunters to your area. Just as you should not stalk the turkey as you just may be stalking another hunter using his call. Third, find yourself a good tree to branch in. Something that hides you well. Don't forget your camo, as turkeys have great vision and can see up close better then us. Fourth, Be positive of your target. After you pull the trigger, it is too late!

The opening day of our turkey season was last saturday and i can tell you some things that should help. 1 If it came down to a night before thing, know where the birds are at. Put them to bed-go out in the evening and call to find out their approximate location so that the next morning you can get in quite close. This is an optional thing but it sometimes works better to do it. The morning of the hunt take all necessary precautions to not spook the birds. Closing the door to your vehicle can be an easily made mistake. Sometimes it will make them gobble. Its a thing that can make you or break you. Another thing is dont overcall while the birds are on the roost. Some good calling suggestions I can offer is that when you think it is time to do a fly down, do it. You can do it by aggressivly calling with your mouth calls and slapping your thighs to make a wing beating sound. If you are reading this you may thing wow, that sounds goofy but BIRDS LOVE IT. If a turkey seems to be holding off in a location and is gobbling try getting a little aggressive on the cutting and make some sounds in the leaves (if possible) also avoid overcalling. And also last thing is if gobbling stops, they could still be coming and you should also stop, give them like a half hour and resume calling. cuts and yelps usually work pretty good. Purring is also a good form of calling. have fun!
