  • I wish he would mind his own business.
  • I would say so. And it would have been better if he hadn't said the prayer.
  • Well, I'm going to disagree with Admiral Sir John and Retro Rebel and also point their answers back up to counteract the trolls. I think that if we insisted that the Pope come first to our Ground Zero, then we're behaving as though our tragedy is more important than the rest of the world's tragedy - and there's sure a lot of tragedy out there. This Pope hasn't traveled as much as the last one did. But then, this Pope is pretty OLD. I think it's good that he's here, although U.S. Catholics are pretty individualistic. (See editorial cartoon from yesterday's San Diego paper.)
  • Ratzinger has only been the Pope for 3 years now. Ground Zero happened 6.5 years ago.
  • No. His predecessor was too ill to come. You have to remember he is the pope of an entire world not just our corner of it. He has priests and thus troubles in every country of the world. He came when it was time for him to come.
  • The Pope isn't obligated to go anywhere imparticular, I don't think, and he wasn't even Pope when that happened. I can't help but wonder what those scoundrels in Washington DC are doing that they wanted to divert our attention to the Pope!
  • I didn't think there was such a thing being late for something like that. I mean, it's not like praying would have made it all better if he'd been there "on time."
  • I think that there is still so much negativity, hatred, and suffering in the world that if someone (anyone) wants to pray, or otherwise offer up a message of hope for peace and healing, it's not a bad thing--no matter when they choose to do it.
  • I heard on the news tonight (UK), that the Pope blessed the crater at Ground Zero. Like that will do any good especially all these years later. Silly old fool.
  • hes only been pope a year or so. he is the leader of over a billion people in the world. there are only 60 million catholics in the usa. things take time.. hes only the second pope to ever come here... jimemy crickets...give him a break. hes got 3 times as many followers than even the usa president.
  • What difference does it make? ;-)
  • Think about it, if you were that old and wore a long dress, how long do you think it would take you to go from Itality to NYC?
  • No. Why/ Because, the pope that was in charge as we all know now was very ill. Second, and I hate to say this, as i am an American, he is pope of the entire church with a whole world to deal with we are just a small part of it. a rather disobedient, defiant, and embarrasing part for the church I might add. Have you heard the news the past 5 years or so?
