Oh please, don't get me started on Berlusconi! Arrrrrgh! Good question and I wish I knew. I guess a bit of both, though it is beyond me how anyone can believe the guy's crap. Now that he's won the elections, he's already starting to retract a lot of the promises he made (big surprise! lol), not even a week after election day and even before he has formed the new government. I keep asking myself how in the world did he get elected? :o( P.S. I live in Italy and, as you probably guessed, I did NOT vote for him.

Berlusconi is a very shrewd (if sometimes eccentric) politician. There was a documentary on British TV (Panorama) about him and his immigration policy the other day. He has brokered a deal with Colonel Quaddafi for Libya to push back the economic migrants that flock to Libya in the hope of crossing the Mediterreanean to Italy. This is a really good move from Berlusconi's point of view as it tackles illegal immigration, at the end of the day, Italy, is one of the gatekeepers of Europe, and I must admit i like his style.
