The screen will probably never work right. It might boot up correctly after a few days of drying though. If your lucky the data will be safe so it can all be transfered to another phone.

put it in a bag of rice for a week. all the water will have evaporated and it might work again

Remove the battery and let it dry for a few days and it should be ok. Been there done that.

If you take it apart and let it dry out for a good day or day and a half before trying it, it may. But you must open it up to get all the water out. Take out the battery. Good luck +4

Hmmm. Because soap may have gotten inside the unit, it is hard to tell. Here's what you should do. Do not turn the phone on. Remove the battery and allow it to dry for at least 24 hours (preferably longer). Once it's dry, put it back in and see if it works. If you can't save the phone, go on e-bay and you can probably find a cheap cell phone that your provider will then activate for you. If it makes you feel any better, I spilled water on my iPod Nano. I replaced it with a shuffle because I didn't have enough money to get a new one.

Maybe he should wash his own laundry then and take the stuff out of his pockets. Just remember to check all pockets next time you do laundry!
