I like "Clockwork Orange" with the exception of the "Singin' in the Rain" bit. Not Ludwig!

Some of it is absolutely amazing (2001, Paths of Glory, Full Metal Jacket) and some of it I find a little bit overrated (Clockwork Orange, Eyes Wide Shut). I think he was obviously an extremely dedicated filmmaker with amazing attention to detail, and a known perfectionist who sometimes drove his cast to the brink of insanity with constant reshoots and hundreds of repeated takes of the same harrowing scenes. Thematically, I think he was one of the most thought-provoking artists of the 20th century, even if I didn't particularly love all of his films.

Woot. F.M.J. 'Nuff said.

I think he is a brilliant, but at times misunderstood director.

His work on the lunar hoax wasn't really that good! There are so many things wrong, but that may not be his fault!

He is one of my favorite directors. I like most of his work. Even the films that I do not like to see are worth considering. Kubrick was always thought provoking, and he created unforgettable images. My favorite film by him is Barry Lyndon - often underrated because there is not as much action as in other films. The images are stunning, and his work with light is incomparable.

I have to agree wholeheartedly with MG's answer. I loved R. Lee Ermey in full metal Jacket. He made that movie as great as it was. http://www.rleeermey.com/sounds/fmjcwby3.wav http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093058/

He's my favorite filmmaker. His movies just have a level of perfection and class that no one else has ever matched. Too bad he didn't make that many.
