What does it mean to be "tipping pitches"?

tipping pitches has to do with when a pitcher does something during his delivery that gives away or "tips" the hitter what pitch is coming..example, if the pitcher slows down his delivery it usually means its a breaking ball or change-up. There are lots of ways that a pitcher can tip his pitches. slower delivery, maybe a faster delivery for a little extra giddy-up on his fastball..even something as simple as taking a deep breath before throwing a certain pitch..hitters study film all the time to see if they can pick anything up for an added advantage

This happens when you are taking the balls on the tip of your bat when you swing. Stand closer to the plate.
