When barrelracing, do I have to use a bit or can I use a hackamore? Why is one better than the other?

You can use either. It all depends on what your horse it better with and you personal preference, I prefer using a hackamore, but is also depends on the severity of the hackamore as some I feel are cruel to say the least, all of my horses use the least amount of pressure to the nose, I have never has a problem using them

It really depends on what your hoirse is most comfortable with and which one it responds to best. Test both of them and check which one works best =]

You can use either. Just try to pick the least severe for each indvidual horse. I myself wouldn't go back to using a bit after learning how to contoll my horse with a Peruvian Bozal.
