There is a prescription pill that you can get from your vet, which makes the feces taste bad to the dogs. It worked great for my chihuahua.

i eat my dogs poop all the time it is sooo good , my wife and i use it as a side dish for all of our meals and we also water it down and feed it to our 7 month old child she just loves it

oh come on.. what kind of dog is that.. .. just slap or whip your dog's nose or mouth whenever you see that they eat their own poop.. ^^ just feel free to try it... ^^

The smell, the allure, the aroma, and it it bugs the heck out of you. Really not sure anyway knows but there are several theories. Some undigested food to be had, lacking some nutrient in their own diet and eating it for the bacteria, boredom, ect. Some dogs will grow out of it on their own. You may try to change his food to better quality food and some chew treats and toys and exercise.
