  • It could be some type of Mange...there are several different types. It could be a fierce allergic reaction, although I would guess that would start small and then become the bigger mess...but then so too would the mange... Demodectic Mange http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=2&cat=1589&articleid=729 http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_demodectic_mange.html Sarcoptic Mange http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=2&cat=1589&articleid=764 Hope IT heals up soon, whatever the problem is and that it has not gotten too advanced to be affordable in the treatment. I'm glad you are able to get your pup to the vet now....
  • sounds like mange...use " the old folks cure"the cheapest and fastest way to kill mange is to treat the areas w/ used motor oil...its been used for years. you put the oil on a sponge and apply it to the areas.if it is a smaller dog dip them in it...do not wash it off.this will kill the mange ,the dog will look and smell bad for a few days but the hair will return i dont know of any long lasting effects. i've used this on my dog who hav a very, very severe case.it cleared up and she lived for 12 more years w/o another episode.
  • when my dad's hunting dogs get the mange he uses used motor oil and sulfur mixed together. he rubs it on with a sponge and leaves it on them. they smell really bad and look awful for a few days but it really does work! good luck
