No, I thought it was horrid. I love the 1968 version with Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey. Great movie.

OK, Ok. You guyz, you should understand that YES the original could be considered a classic, but also Baz L. did a good job of mixing up a classic while keeping true to the language.

I loveeeeeed the updated version of the original. Some parts I didn't emjoy as much as I did in the 1968 version, but Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes have much more chemistry that makes for a better movie. Isn't that why we watch Romeo and Juliet anyway, for the passion and the love bewtween the two characters? Leonardo and Claire brought the love and passion in the updated version that the original did not reveal.

no i dont think it ruins the play i love the film its the best film i like the fight part at the start i have been studying about romeo and juliet at school today and for the last few weeks i have really enjoyed studying romeo and juliet now i might go ask my mum for the film of the special edition one
