  • Well, a traditional tea would have finger sandwiches (you can look up recipes but standards are cucumber, pear & gorgonzola, egg salad), scones with Devonshire cream if you can find it (but definately jam) and an assortment of small pastries and desserts. Petit fours are a nice choice. Your tea party sounds like fun. Good luck and enjoy it.

  • My Grandmother's favorites for tea was always apricot tansies and little lemon tarts.
  • Have little sandwiches for people who are afraid of eating something like a cucumber sandwich. :) Include anything people put in their tea- lemon, cream, sugar/honey/splenda etc... I've put *butter* in my tea (but not in front of other people) so i don't know what is/isn't common enough to include.
  • Danish and Cantaloupe.
  • Anything small and light you can eat with your fingers. Small sandwiches, cookies, brownies, small peices of fruit. Even though it's a tea you can still very creative with the food.

  • I don't know what I'd expect, but here's what I'd want: -blueberry tea (amaretto, grand marnier, earl grey tea) -welsh cakes and/or strawberry shortcake (the shortcake can be made ahead of time, but the welsh cakes should be just cooling when the guests arrive) -finger sandwiches (both can be made ahead of time): edam cheese, baby arugula, guacamole; coronation chicken (a kind of curry chicken salad) Coronation Chicken: 1. poach chicken breasts, allow to cool, cut into small pieces 2. make curry sauce: saute 1 small onion (finely chopped) until transluscent; add 1 tbsp curry paste, 1 tbsp tomato puree, 4 fl. oz (100 ml) red wine, 1 bay leaf, juice from 1/2 lemon; stir, lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes, strain and allow to cool 3. make apricot mayo: puree 4 apricot halves (canned) and mix with mayo 4. mix apricot mayo with cooled-down curry sauce 5. whip 4 fl. oz (100 ml) whipping cream; fold it into the apricot curry mayo; season with salt, pepper, lemon juice to taste 6. thoroughly coat chicken with dressing You can serve this as a salad or as a filling for a sandwich.
