I suggest getting to know her first. Don't just ask her out and expect a relationship from her. I suggest a study date since she's in your class.

be brave - just do it! shes going to think youve got good taste (cos you fancy her) and if you confront your fears, just think in a couple of years time you will have the balls to ask anyone out - and wont care if you get rejected?

I like Neil Strauss's (go ahead and wiki him) caveman technique. Basically, you phase shift and act like a caveman. You just don't care what happens to yourself. Remember, if you act like this is the only girl you'll ever attract and act really desperate she will get turned off. Do it in a cool and relaxed manner like you normally do this stuff.

Usually the guy asks for the girl's number. She might ask yours if she REALLY likes or if she just wants a new friend (you don't want to be her friend, i take it). Here's what you do: Flirt with her once or twice more (but don't wait too long), then say "I really enjoy talking to you and wish it wouldn't just happen when we randomly run into each other. Can I get your number so we can chat later?" Then wait a few days (so as not to seem desperate) and call her up. Chat for a few minutes and ask "How would you like to meet up for dinner/coffee/drinks?" Be respectful of her privacy and don't call at an odd hour. If she refuses to give you her number or refuses the date, then pull back and play it cool, because she's not into you enough yet (maybe never). This course of action will work if she has some interest in you to begin with, in my experience. Hope it helps!
