  • Just because you work with them 8+ hours a day doesn't give you the right to judge, assume, or think you know them, you don't know their personal life, what wakes them up in the morning, you just know what they tell you, plus everyone should respect everyone (# 1 Human rule)in order to get R.E.S.P.E.C.T. you must give it.

  • If they are respectable people that deserve respect, why wouldn't you? If they are not, then you have a moral and legal obligation to be civil tongued and to keep the peace when you are at work but that can be done without respect. I do not respect my boss, because he doesn't deserve it but he has no clue that I feel this way and never will. I'm an excellent worker that he would never want to lose. That's because I respect myself. If you work full time you spend one quarter of your hours a week at work, it's much easier to spend that time getting along with people.

I think every company has the "one guy" ;). I've actually learned alot dealing with difficult people -- skills that have helped me in other situations. And, you don't necessarily have to "respect" them, just act respectful.
  • Because you never know when they may become YOUR boss.
  • So them Individuals would respect you back =)
  • If you respect them they will in turn respect you. Also if they get respect..they will be more than eager to help you.
  • It's important to respect those that respect you.
  • for the simple reason that you work with them. You spend the majority of your life with them, and therefore need to get along. But, you do not need to actually respect them - just develop professional relationships in such a way that it seems that you respect their position and the job they do, but you do not need to necessarily respect them as a person.
  • It's not important. In fact, treat them like crap and they'll treat you back with respect. It's how the world works.
