(can only run one virus program at a time on a PC but you may have as many spyware programs as you wish as long as you run only one at a time, and only one firewall) A GREAT FREE ONE IS ZONE ALARM FOUND AT www.snapfiles.com under the freeware section, personal firewalls. *** Note: It is wise to only run one virus program at a one time but run as many spyware as you like, only run them one at a time, other wise they will conflict with each other, it is good to have more than one as each will find some thing the other did not. Unistall any other program as they may conflict such as Norton,MacAfee etc. The only one this list that runs in safemode F8 is AVG anti-spyware, which does work great in safemode. Also wise thing to do is to run the virus & spyware program once without internet connection and then again with internet, as some times the virus will try to block program other wise when internet is running. This list has been drawn up by me and designed by me and is not copyed from anywhere as it has been suggested, please feel free to use as much as you like, and I hope it helps in some way. G_tech
  • Do you know the maker of your touchpad? If not, the maker of the laptop might work. First go to the site of your laptop's manufacturer. There should be a place where you can find the drivers for your scrollpad. (Since I don't know the make of your laptop, I can't really give any step by step instructions. The websites will usually tell you how to install the driver after you have downloaded it.) If that installation doesn't work, try to find out who makes your touchpad and go to their website and download the drivers there. (Following for Windows only. I'm sure there's a way to do it on Mac. I'm a novice Linux user, so I'm not really sure how to do it on Linux) Another option is to allow Windows to try and update or rollback the driver. 1. Open Device Manager. (If you have Vista, just type Device Manager into the search bar, and it will pop up.) 1.a. (Windows XP, though I may be wrong since I haven't used XP in a while.) Open Control Panel and choose Hardware. 1.b. There should be an option to look at all devices, or something like that. 2. In Device Manager, find Mice/Pointing Devices, and click the + sign next to it. 3. If you have any external mice plugged in, remove them. Your touchpad should be the last device listing left. If there are others, usually the description will say something about touch pad. Double-click that listing. 4. In the window that pops up, click the Driver tab at the top of the window. There will be an "Update Driver" button and a "Roll Back Driver" button. If the touchpad stopped working around the time of an update, try the roll back driver option if available. Otherwise, click Update Driver and follow the onscreen instructions. (I believe there are slight differences between the way Vista and XP perform this operation.) You will need internet access to perform this. Hope this helps!
  • I have this happen quite often.... the scrolling function of the mouse/touch pad stops working. You won't believe what fixes it for me. When the scroll stops working on my laptop touch pad, I go to my yahoo page and do a search on "laptop mousepad stops working". When the search results are displayed, the scroll function magically works again. I know it sounds crazy, but it works every time. I have even tried testing this by searching on other things, but other searches don't work. It's baffling, but true.
  • My Microsoft wireless laser mouse 8000 does this after every shut down or restart. Every time I have to go to control panel/ mouse and click ok. Then it works. Can not find a fix anywhere.
  • Mine works everywhere but my browser when this happens. Try closing browser and restarting...this worked for me.
