Somone gets my respect by earning it...and usually their honesty, integrity and morals have a lot to do with it.

Everyone should be given respect, if should be there birth right! Even if they dis-respect you, you should respect them cause you dont want to be on there low level!

The people I respect have these character traits... kind honest helpful non-judgmental talks about ideas, not things or other people optimistic focuses on others, not him/herself does not blame others, make excuses or whine/complain Tall order? Someone who is just honest, warts and all... we all fuck up now and then but as long as you are truthful and have integrity i think that is what matters. I think everyone deserves respect at first... but then i can loose resepct for someone if they are disrespectful back. I think respect begets respect though... so there is no point saying "i'll just wait for them to be respectful first"

Modest, calm and understanding people are usually those I respect the most, especially if they have a good sense of humour but know when it's appropriate to joke and when it isn't. Right now I'm quite interested in knowing what makes you respect other people :)

I start out by respecting everybody when I meet them, it' s what they do afterwards that determines whether or not I lose respect from them.

I respect people who can express themselves without trampling all over the rights and feelings of others. I respect people who recognize that where they are and who they are is their own responsibility, no one else's. I respect those who tell the truth even if it casts them in an unfavorable light. I respect people who aren't afraid to fail.

I'm pretty quick to give respect when respect is given. I think you tend to get back whatever you're putting out there, so I think it makes sense to give respect if you wish to receive respect.

I start off by respecting all people until they teach me to not respect them. But even so I will continue to show them respect as a fellow human but it isn't from the hart anymore.
