*resists temptation to uprate and not answer* I might do that if i think it's a good question, perhaps something that I personally am curious about, but I don't have an answer for.

a question someone else may need the answer to but cannot answer seeing as they too need the answer. :) bascially it was a good question that they cant answer.

I just asked a similar question earlier, and someone made a good point. People might enjoy or find your question interesting but don't feel qualified to answer it. Either that or you got hit by the points fairy!

I often respect questions that I can't answer. It's been a lot of my experience in life as a matter of fact.

Same as the others... I try to answer if at all possible, but I am the type of person that wont speak on something If I know nothing about it. Unlike my Sister in law... who speaks when she should be shuttin the hell up.... but... I digress. :P

For me... I like the question but don't know what to answer... Or, maybe, I have the SAME question... Nothing more, nothing less.

I do this sometimes. I do it primarily because I am stealing 5 mins. from work to do a WEE BIT of BAGGIN'. Lol. I don't have time to give a good answer, and the question seems to require some thought, but the questioner deserves a slap on the back for coming up with something thought provoking. The second example of when I might do this is when a question is asked not in my particular area of expertise. I am smart enough to know: hey, that IS a good question about which guitar pick to use with a certain electric. HOWEVER, I've never played the guitar, so under NO circumstances do I know the answer to the question. I guess a final example would be that the question is hilariously funny, and I can't think of a snappy come-back. So there are plenty of good reasons in my opinion. What is more bothersome to me is the opposite. Lots of people lining up to answer, they all have 20 points a piece, and I end up with five points for the question. Lol. (That's why you can't take AB too, too seriously.)

If I find the question very interesting, but I am not able to answer it, I will often rate the question without answering it. This does not mean that I find the question not good enough to answer, it just means that I find that a reply that would not be a real answer would not be useful.

"Have you seen the Northern Lights in person? Can you describe how you felt when you first saw them?" is an example of a question that I can't answer but think deserves points. I've never seen the lights, personally, but I think the question has value so I would point it.

Was wondering the same thing. If a question is good enough to answer is it good enough to rate...
