some of them do some of them dont. my dad admires me for it, my mother is crushed by it. neither of them call me stupid. btw - this shouldn't be under "cults"
-
No, and neither does the Bible. It says we should question the things in the Bible and to test them to see if what it says is true.
-
what about the old testament? I think they were all on drugs when that was written and I don't think there's really much validity to it. If it gives people a reason to wake up in the morning--fantastic! I just don't think it's all true.
-
It is my experience that they do. You're funny for putting this in cults. lol
-
No , I do not, I think that we need to question to understand what we are taught.
-
I can only answer this question for myself. I believe that people are only ignorant if they use the term "questioning" in order to completely disregard the books of the Bible both as historical and as spiritual sources. However, I have a great appreciation for those people who ask the question, "Why should I believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God?" I believe it is more ignorant not to ask yourself this question at all.

NO. Questioning the bible is a GOOD thing. How else are you supposed to beleive its true? Just be prepared if you are going to debate with someone about it. Make sure you do your research. Its like.. buying a car. The salesperson tells you that it runs good, and that its a fantastic car..etc. But would you buy it without even looking at it? No. You would look, drive, and audition it. You want to know the truth for YOURSELF.. not just take someone elses word for it. Even Christians need to question the bible. Maybe not question is reliability, but the meanings of what is said, etc. I am a Christian.. And i think people are SMART for questioning the bible. Trust what you KNOW you can trust. Not what other people SAY you can trust. ~+~

It depends on the kind of Christian that they are. I believe that a Christian who truly adheres to the teachings of Christ would never think someone stupid for questioning the bible. They would realise that everybody has their own individual understanding of divine energy and that it is un-Christian to perceive other humans as 'stupid'. ...Any close scrutiny of the background of the New Testament shows that Christ himself questioned the religious institutions of his day; he was actually quite a political person. There are Christians who may consider it sacrilegious to question the bible, and there are others who might think that those who do this are misinformed or 'off the path'... As with any other faith (and people in general), there are those Christians who are fundamentalist, bigoted, opinionated, ignorant and arrogant (and probably a few more types beyond that). These Christians might consider somebody stupid for questioning the bible, but I'm not sure that it would be worth debating the point with them - too much grief involved in that!

Yes, They have their beliefs and everyone elses opinions are ignored or looked down upon.
-
Hardly. The Bible TELLS us to search out the truth. But 'questioning' with a closed mind is a waste of time and effort.
-
not at all.

I am a Christian and before I got saved, I questioned the Bible. I since know that there is a lot of Scripture that I don't understand, but I trust God and don't need to have all the answers. He has made my life so wonderful.
