No, you're not wrong. That's ridiculous.
-
You are not wrong at all. It is messed up because they are a new Member they have the right to know the rules and all.
-
I think it's cute when new members ask for help. I have links bookmarked for just such an occasion. I would never laugh at them.
-
No, you are not wrong at all. Thats just plain rude. I'd have been lost without some of the kindness and guidance that I recieved when I first joined. I try to show the same courtesy to the newbies that I was shown, whenever I can :)
-
Sometimes we forget where we come from. We all started at the bottom. I agree, we should not make little of them or DR them as they are learning the AB way.
-
No, you aren't wrong. Some people seem to think that achieving a higher level just means more people beneath them to take a leak on. Good news is, occasionally, a stiff breeze will blow it right back in their own faces.
-
No you are NOT wrong! Why are we here in the first place? It's to help people (no matter how little help we can offer).
-
No you are not wrong at all.
-
I was JUST thinking that same thing! Honestly people, when does it stop?!?! Where's the line?!?!
-
no! you spot on ...I just find the few ABers who do this are just down right rude ...seems to me they might have been Yapooers at some stage and have not let go of there old ways , real and genuine ABers are ALWAYS ready to help out anyone and especially new ABers find there feet and help them with the workings of this great site that is our home away from home
-
WTF, people, I get that from senior members sometimes too, its like they are the 12th grade football team, and we are the chess club...
-
You're not wrong.
-
Wow, that really disappoints me!!
-
No, you're right.
-
I've answered alot of "I'm new here- what are the rules?" questions and I've yet to see any older members laugh. I wouldn't know about any downrating, so I can't speak on that. Who's done this?
-
I agree. I got DRd for an opinion. http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/650642 Ouch. Don’t know what I did wrong there. Anyway…We all are newbie’s at some point so how about a little compaction?
-
You are correct in your thinking!
-
You are not wrong at all! Today's new members will be the future "Superlative AB'ers". The experienced members SHOULD be setting an example!
-
Let me play the devils advocate here, but before I do, I want you all to know that I don't do those things to a newbie...Now with that said, whose responsibility is it to learn the rules? It's the newbies....And in fact it was the first question I asked when I came in the door...No I don't believe they deserve or should be laughed at ,but not learning the rules is still no excuse for breaking them....Especially when there not only posted all over AB, but can be found by a simply searching the questions here on AB....And why does it mean that the people who are higher ranked are wrong, because they treat the newbies the same way they would treat anyone else here? We all have to learn some way, and if you choose not to learn what the rules are then this is the choice you made, and you only have your self to blame. I realize that may not be the answer your looking for, but there is more than one side to this, and I just wanted to point out a different view.
-
whats DR? and no i agree with you
-
Thats not wrong at all. WTH???
-
No you're not wrong. I however have not noticed anyone laughing at new users.
-
No. Actually, you're right.
