Generally speaking, when fighting infection, a human body mounts a very useful defense, a fever, which kills bacteria or denatures viruses. I know, I've done it in the lab. This is what allowed humans to survive before antibiotics. Unfortunately, sometimes, like with heat stroke, the temperature control in the body can get knocked out, and fever can rise above 105, which is recognized at the maximum temperature a body can reach before the organs become damaged (basically they cook). At or even before 104 F, people become delirious and don't really know where they are or what's happening. If it goes above 102 and keeps rising or if a fever persists for more than a few days, you need to see a doctor, but if it stays around there and the person is still talking and acting normal, there is probably nothing to worry about.
