What is the difference between nintendo ds and nintendo ds lite? Can I play the brain and sight training games on an older ds? thanks

They're both the same, except that the DS Lite has much better audio quality and four different screen shades from dark to light, whereas the original DS only has one preset. You can play all games on both, and I'm pretty sure that the wi fi capabilities are exactly the same, although I'm not exactly sure on that last one.
