We are becoming increasingly dependent on computers. They are used in business, hospitals, crime detection. What things will they be used for in future? Is this dependence on computers a good thing or should we be more suspicious of their benefits?

In the future, nearly any product imaginable will have some computerized effect, even condoms. (I am not joking) This dependence is good for the most part, as it expedites and streamlines processess that would have once taken a great deal of time, especially with the current population explosion. However, this dependance means that any accident could cripple our entire system rather easily. That's why EMP devices are so popular in sci fi these days.

It is important for people to "back up" their work, be it on paper, a external hard drive, etc. to prevent loss of data should the computer malfunction. Reliance on computers removes the human element, the experience of interacting with a human being, where processes are automated. This can be problematic when it comes to troubleshooting, where the answer you are seeking is not listed.

who knows? with the gobal warming and climate change we might have computer chips for lunch. the more dependent we are on computers the more likely we are to link computer programs to each other causing computers to fully control our live. As in the movie we may be at the digression of the main program running the show.
