  • My grammar is so awful that I couldn't go mistake-free if I tried.
  • Yes, I think that's a correct observation.
  • Absolutely. It takes WAY too much time to mentally translate anything into "txtspeak" or "1337".
  • I habitually type with correct grammar and punctuation, not just online, but with things like texting as well. I think it does help. I teach high school English, and a lot of my students have issues, it seems, with switching their minds into "proper grammar mode" vs. their usual "textspeak" stuff.
  • It seems that however I type here, I will end up typing the same way everywhere else. For example, since I've been here, I use more colloquialisms than ever, even in places where I probably shouldn't like my college admission essay. I suppose if I tried to use good grammar and punctuation, I would also use that more....but I guess my grammar isn't so bad, huh? Anyway, I suppose you are correct in saying that, even though I still make as many typos as I always have.
  • Fun, I'm an editor/proofreader. While I try to use proper grammer and punctuation in places like AB, even I use "chat language" in informal chatrooms. I do have to say though that "text language" sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
  • G'day Fun, Thank you for your question. I find so. At least on Answerbag, the way I answer questions is much more formal than other people may use. However, I do have moments when my mind wanders so I am not claiming to be perfect by any means. Regards
  • Dus AB hep u rite gooder?
  • Well, firstly, it takes me longer to use 'text speak' than it does to type normally. Secondly, bad grammar and spellings really annoy me. Thirdly I guess I owe you an apology Fun, I didn't mean to be so rude to you the other day. We all have moments. Sorry.
