in a perfect world, we should all be pacifists. in the real world, i think we need both types.

It would be nice if we could all be pacifists, but evil people just walk all over pacifists. Hitler exploited pacifism to take control of Austria, and Checkoslovakia. Had the rest of the world remained passive in the face of his aggression, then he would simply have taken over the rest of the world as well. Unfortunately, there comes times when people of faith must take up arms to defend what is right. If we doe not, then evil will simply over run good. There is an old saying that is quite applicable here. All it take for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Being a pacifist in the face of evil is doing nothing to stop it.

Ideally, I think everyone should strive for pacifism, but there are times when a little violence is necessary to defend yourself or others. In general however, I think many people, both "Of Faith" and otherwise, resort to violence too quickly, and should place violence and killing much higher on their list of 'Don'ts' than they do.

What exactly is a pacifist? If you mean someone who is against war, then my answer is no. I love peace, but sometimes you won't have any peace until you first have a war. God is for war. He killed a bunch of people for worshipping a golden calf. He also ordered some guys to go into a certain city and kill everybody in it.

no. we should be able to defend ourselves without stepping farther than necessary. but i'm not about to be a pushover. somebody attacks me or my family, i'm not going to run away. i'm going to find out how to make sure they don't do that to somebody else. i'm not going to hunt them down or kill them or anyhting of the sort, but i'm not going to stand around and do nothing that being said, once i make sure that nobody else can be hurt and that the one hurting me or my family is reprimanded, nothing needs to be taken farther. no grudges, black dots in history, nothing.

It's a fine idea except the human race hasn't evolved far enough yet to be able to control or be rid of a very basic human trait...FEAR.
