you can use "leave-in conditioner". I use it and it helps my hair stay untangled. :)

You say 50 inches? Wow. Well maybe you should cut it abit shorter and use some Paul Mitchell Detangler Shampoo and Conditioner. And try straightening your hair as well to rid it of frizz and poufiness.

The tip I see in article after article is to be sure to work on it dry. If you work on wet hair, you just make it worse. Here is a link to a really great article: http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip3826.htm

My hair is long and curly on top of that so it gets real bad but, I use anit frizz creme. And believe it or not with all the expensive shampoos out now I have found that good old cheap Suave that my mom used to buy growing up has been the best!! And believe me I have tried them all.

I have very long thick hair, mine is also wavy when its not straightened. What I do is buy this oil free glosser by Ion at the beauty supply store and put it through my hair and blow dry it.. It makes its comeable and very manageable, with no tangles. Hope this helps.

My hair is a bit longer than 3 feet and straight so I am not completely in the same situation as yourself. I can tell you that Infusium leave in conditioner can make it easier to comb and it tangles less. There are other leave in conditioners that work as well but Infusium is cheap and very easy to use. You could also try putting a leave in conditioner at the ends where they get pouffy if you do not want to use it on all of your hair. It also is a bit easier for me to manage if I use a wide toothed comb rather than a brush. -------edit Lady Alathia's answer is very good.

I have the frizz problem too... I put a dime-sized drop of olive oil in my palms, rub them together and apply it to the tips of my towel-dried, combed hair. That's the only thing that's worked for me so far!

I also have really long hair... what I use right after I shower is Biosilk "serum" - it helps a lot! And be sure to use a wide-toothed comb to comb it in. Also, brush your hair right before you shower, and you can try running a wide-toothed comb through our hair while you condition it to de-tangle it a bit first.

Yipes! Only work on your hair while it is wet. That is the syling part. Always detangle your hair before shampoo, while your hair is still dry. Start at the bottom and work your way up with a comb and detangle spray. You could use the skinny shampoo/conditioners (paul Mitchel) that snap your cuticle closed, giving smoother and narrower in diameter hair! Takes about 2 weeks to see the true results. Always add a smoother, be it skinny serum or friz eeze. Then finger comb it. let air dry, and do not brush it. If needed, comb through then spritz with a little water and scrunch back into place. No friz! Always use a cold rinse to help close that cuticle down. Please, bio silk, uses real silk made from boiling live silk worms in a big vat and extracting the silk from the mush. You dont need silk on your hair. (They used to just collect the silk from the silk worms nests, and let them live. But today, too much is needed too fast, so they just cook em!)
