No. Trolls usually are killed within the first few levels. They don't need to have the same power that those of us that care about the site have. It gives us a chance to weed them out.

Everyone's opinion is NOT equally important -- the equality has to do with rights: everyone has an equal right to have and express an opinion. But certainly those who have more knowledge of the topic, more experience, more wisdom, etc. get a greater weight for the importance of their opinion. The world would be chaotic without that.

Everyone's opinion is -not- equally important. We get this in newspapers-- It's not okay to give "the world is flat" guy equal say with "the world is round" guy. At the opinion desk here, the Opinion Editor has an Onion story taped to his desk: "Study shows 37% of Americans not entitled to own opinion." One line explains "Some americans hold opinions so backwards or misinformed that they actually hinder progress by having them." Obviously it's the Onion, but they pretty much hit the nail on the head. New guy who thinks all women-positive answers should be downrated does not deserve the same weight as Regular Well-respected Guy.

the opinions aren't equally important. those who say them should have equal opportunity to say so, but the opinions of one may not be valid in my eyes while those of another might be held in higher esteem.

Simply put.... No. Everyone should have to earn their bones, and this successfully emulates that structure. And the people with the most power here on AB tend to be among the most reasonable, interesting, and deserving of that right.

It gives you more incentive to answer more questions and think more carefully about your answers. Something to look forward to.
