think about an extended campimg trip in the outback for a year or two.and practically no way home. bugs, snakes, wildlife, huts, usually no running water, cold showers, outdoor facilities, rebels, guerillas, and gorillas, lions, tigers and bears, oh my... now that ive described the fun part...diseases, dangerous water, dangerous food, poorly educated natives, language issues, social issues, heat, humidity, flies, mosquitoes, lots of dieing babies and sick and dieing people. did i mention diseases. different cultures, culture shock...manana mentality. tribal leaders, tribal life, tribal customs, women as second class citizens. wars, battle zones, infighting, injuries, infections and much more. cutoff from the outside world. but i love it...some do...some dont

They won't take you unless you are married. You both have to have a college degree or 10 - 50 years of experience. (The oldest volunteer ever was 86.) Last year they took 4,000 out of 11,000 applicants.
