Think of all the bosses you have ever had. Are there any trends you have experienced for whether men or women are better managers?

I think men are better managers. Its very hard to work with lady bosses. I find male managers are more understanding.

I have had nasty men and nasty women bosses. I have had great men and great women bosses. I don't see a connection between gender and management style. To me it's all about personality.

The thing about men is...there is less chance of petty jealousy. That makes things easier.

I have seen both sexes be both excellent and pathetic managers. The worst boss I ever had was a woman, but it was because her superiors treated her with kid gloves because she was a woman, and she got away with terrible things. Her bosses, all men, were as bad as she was. The best boss I had was a man who had a wonderful mom who taught him to be fair, and a wonderful wife who kept him balanced. Neither sex has a better capacity for managing things (in general).

Depends on whether you are a male or female, yourself-women tend to be more "catty" toward each other, however the best indicator of a good manager is not gender but whether or not s/he is willing to do the same amount and quality of work s/he expects the staff to do-a supervisor who sits in its office shuffling papers and does not keep a watch on what the staff is doing on a day to day basis is only a figurehead, not contributing to the success of the organization and is most likely in fact detrimental to overall operations.

Any "trends" are the same for both in my experience. Both men and women can be equally good or bad managers/supervisors. Both can be confident and good at dealing with people or insecure and confrontational.

I get along with men better than I do with women, as a rule. I've had some very smart lady bosses and some very smart gentlemen bosses...with the men it is more straightforward, direct and to the point..with the women it can get as complicated and tricky as the woman boss is. So for me personally, I like the direct approach..I'm not into gamesmanship (or in this case, gameswomanship)! :)

The gender has nothing to do with it, actually. All of them aren't good.

I've had a good male boss and a good female boss, and a bad female boss. I don't think the gender matters, I think it just depends on the person.

ive seeb both bad and good, but it seems to be men are much less catty and more understanding.
