This country's record regarding racism and the racism in the judicial system speaks for itself. There was and still exists a stigma to those that were and continue to be involved in the civil rights movement. The issues that African American deal with in this country is often passed over as being inconsequential, racism still exists and innocent people have been found guilty and sentenced to death. While the real killers remain free. I want to know if Arnold Beverlys' confession has merit..and if so I want him charged and sentenced to death. This would not be the first case of someone being wrongfully convicted and its not necessarily a color issue..Having worked in the system I have seen people fight and ultimately win dimissal of their cases after 20 years in prison. Because of a faulty system. The central park rapists wasn't 5 kids out wilding, it was one man who ultimately confessed...but so had the children that were convicted of this crime. A mentally ill man convicted of being a serial rapists..freed when the real rapist struck again but he was still imprisoned for 20 years and the evidence was overwhelming they said originally. It is rare that these cases get the same attention in the media as the original trial.
