  • If i were you, i would defintaley join a class!! They'll teach you how to relax even when you're not there! I just started and it has definately reduced my stress level! I love it =)
  • You can't really learn Yoga alone, much as the pushers of books and dvds might want us all to believe we can. Same with meditation, Tai Chi and the rest. If you check out your local craigslist btw, you might be able to find some free classes near you.
  • I think that depends on your personality. I started out with the dvd's and have been most satisfied with Seane Corn's videos. When you are on your own you miss out on corrections from the teacher which can be beneficial to getting the right posture. I am all for working out on my own. I've never enjoyed exercising with other people, so this is what works for me. You may be more social and outgoing than I am, in which case a class would give you the benefits of knowledge and fellow students. Either way is good. IMHO the poster who said you can't learn yoga or meditation on your own is wrong. I base that on how much better I feel when I pursue these activities.
  • I take a class. Some instructors are better than others tho so check out several if you can. I also have some dvds but never seem to use them at home.
  • That's great! I started yoga about a year and a half ago. I love it! I started with a teacher and i'm still with her...i would reccomend going to a teacher for a least a year because a teacher will tell you what you're doing wrong and will help you correct it-you'll get a much better workout and understanding of the practice. It rocks, though! How exciting!
  • Join a class. It is the best way to learn the techniques. Plus there are different types of Yoga. The tapes will teach moves in these techniques, but then it is hard to follow them and their names.
