  • I don't think that it has much significance anymore. Though there are some differences of opinion based on geography. Here on the Oregon coast, there are lots of straight men with two earrings, and nobody really cares. In Arizona, earrings are still called "fag tags" by most of the good ol' boys living there.
  • im a 16yr old male and i have earrings in both ears, i got them done about a year ago now. my parents don't really approve but they let me keep them in anyway, exsept when i go to family occasions. i don't think theres any significantce anymore 2 men wearing earrings, i got mine done 4 the same reasons as girls. not because im abit straight and abit gay lol im straight nd a few of my boy mates have earrings as well, it doesnt mean anything.
  • not at all...i am a 100 percent straight man..who got both my ears pierced at the age of 21. i got mine pierced as a tribute to the late, great, kevin todd smith (RIP) and mr.t, both of which are 100 percent straight, and played many different tough guy roles in their day and they had both of their ears pierced. also, i see alot of famous, straight, rockers and entertainers with them...all it means is that a man has good styal and dosen't care what others might think...
  • Its a cry for attention. Most people that get them feel a lack of status that accomplished people have attained in their personal lives. It props up their poor self image. Tattoos, fad clothing, and various hairstyles also perform the same role.Hopefully they grow out of it as they attain more life experience and develope a sense of self. When I see any of the above, I see a pathetic loser trying desperately to fit in with some fringe group of society to get some sort of recognition and acceptance.
  • No significance whatsoever beyond the fact that the guy likes the look. I had my left ear pierced in 1991 when I was 39 and never regretted it. A few months ago I was at the mall with my nephew, who has both ears pierced. We went into Claire's to pick up a couple of pairs of earings. A guy was getting both ears done and it looked really cool, so on the spur of the moment I had my right ear done. Both my nephew and I each got a second hole in the left as well. I wondered if at 56 I was too old to have both ears pierced, but when it was done I really loved how it looked. I'm straight, conservative, but like a contemporary look and the earrings complement that. Aside from a little goo-natured ribbing from some of my friends the reactions have been positive. Anyway I did it for myself. Go for it. It's cool. You'll never regret it.
  • The only significance it has is showing that the person is an idiot.
  • I think it can indicate intelligence, style, selfrespect and depth. All of which could then be ruined by arrogance and selfishness. So look further than the jewlery before coming to any conclusions, good or bad. Jewlry does not make the man or the woman, it is what's inside that counts.
  • when I see a man wearing earrings, I think of a man with a woman's personality. I usually chuckle at the sight. Real men do not wear earring. period.
  • This "argument" sounds the alot like the "Gays should/shouldnt be allowed to marry", just let people do what they want. If a guy wants to get his ears pierced or anything pierced whatever do what they want. I dont know if all of you live in the US, but here we dont have rules that says we cant do whatever we want. I have my left ear done, getting my right done soon and I have been in the military. I am not going to allow some morons with idiotic views tell me that I cant do something if I fought and have been shot at to support this freedom. Simple. Now everyone who thinks its gay or whatever, just keep your mouth shut, the rest of like it and dont really give a damn what you or anyone else thinks.
  • Nothing wrong with earrings. I'm 17. I'm a hard working student who also works part-time. My life is heading in the right direction and I am very straight. I got both of my ears pierced just to enhance my self image. Not because of insecurity, I am very secure with my life. I think they look good and I 100% love them. The girls like them too. I stand out now and don't follow a crowd like some people. And people admire that. Getting my ears pierced was one of the greatest decisions of my life. Also, I'm not a girly boy. I'm a hardworking kid that is very handy like a "real man" should be. I just got some shiny studs in my ear...
