  • Every embryo has a god given soul, if the pro-choicers choose not to nurture an embrace that fact, then they need to choose not to create one to begin with. It is no longer their uterus when an embryo life begins, it becomes the home of a new life. It is gods choice to give a life, and we are also told not to murder it. It is also a choice to control your penis, if you don't want to father a child, then keep it in your pants! Responsibility is an act of maturity. Exercise that choice first!!
  • Its a tricky one. My personal view tends towards being against the idea of abortion- BUT looking at it objectively I think that to be pro-choice in the true sense of the term- to accept that each person has the ultinate right to hold their view on abortion and act accordingly without enforcing that view on others is as close to objectivity as one can get. However, this also has a major flaw, in that one could argue that by allowing a woman to have an abortion, she inflicts her views on her unborn child. It depends a lot on whether you choose to see an embryo as a collection of cells or a baby- which no-one can ever agree on. SO I'm not sure there is any objectivity to be had. Everyone is influenced by something on this, whether its religion, politics, personal experience or science- all these things create some bias of some description. My personal view, trying to be objective as I can, is that although I dislike the idea of abortions happening that they shouldn't be illegal. Firstly, because there are situations where pregnancy or birth would threaten the life of the mother- and I believe that the rights of the already born outweigh the rights of the unborn, and secondly because I accept that abortions are always going to happen, young girls will always get pregnant by mistake and be desperate to rid themselves of it, whatever we teach them (If it happens under Islamic Sharia law it can happen anywhere). Personally I would rather think that if for some reason a girl decided to have an abortion that it happened in a clean, proffesional environment of a hospital rather than some dangerous botch job with a knitting needle that left her dying on the table of some strangers basement. Looking at it in real-world terms I think that's as close to objective as you're going to get. And even then people are going to disagree with me.
  • As the saying goes.. Anti abortion---Pro date rape.
  • This whole affair is riddiculous. It is a 3/4 the choice of the mother and 1/8 the choice of the father. The other eighth is reserved for the physician. If you need an abortion then you need an abortion, it is not the business of anyone else. The fetus cannot think therefore it is not "alive". This "god given embryo" crap is the pure bullshit of bible toters trying to control everything again. And this comes from an established atheist. For people that wish to rate answers, remember not to rate down because of an opposed view, that is what abstaining is for. Abstaining, of course, ties back into the answer. If they want to screw, let em. If they get pregnant, the hell with them. And if they want an abortion, you can shake your head but IT'S THEIR CHOICE! Thank you.
  • Note: This answer is most likely bias because it is difficult for me to look at this issue objectively. No one can tell you what to believe, but when choosing one’s morals, it is important to make sure that your morals are not contradictory. For instance, if a person was pro-life because of the fact that abortion “kills”, and that same person was pro-war or pro-capital punishment, they wouldn’t have a valid argument. The reason you agree with one side or the other is just as important as the side you choose. I am pro-choice for two reasons. I do not think that a zygote classifies as being alive. I also think that it is every women’s right to chose what happens to her body whether she’s pro anything or not. I have thought about this issue and many others a lot and refuse to take a side on anything until I know I am choosing it for the right reasons. I suggest you do some more research, listen to both sides, examine your pre-existing morals and from there, take a stand where you see fit.
  • I have never seen a pro choicer try to force an abortion on anyone, but I have seen pro-lifers try to prevent them. I don't believe in abortion, but I don't believe in interfering with other people's choices either. It's pretty simple for me. Though I believe our creator has given us guidelines to live by, he is allowing us to make our own choices for the time being. What would cause anyone to think they are better than him?
  • "How shall one look at this objectively?" Hmm... Well, the Right-to-lifers base their opinion of personal beliefs, usually derived from their religion Therefore, it is IMPOSSIBLE for them to view ANYTHING regarding morality or ethics objectively. In fact, personal experience has shown me that quite a few of them can't even use logic or open their ears to counterpoints. I think the first step is to make everyone realize that Pro-choice is NOT the same as Pro-abortion. Actually, that's the second step. First, you'll have to make certain people realize that they are not the only people with a valid moral code; that others might possibly be partly correct on anything without necessarily agreeing with them. Once you get them to listen to anyone else, then move to step 2.
