I have the duel nationalities. Both my grandparents on my mothers side were Italian and my mother was born in Italy. As long as you have one grandparent who is a native Italian and you can provide his birth certificate as well as that of your mother/father & if possible a document that proves she/he is your direct blood grandparent that is enough. Italy only accepts nationality claims up to the third generation, meaning your parent(s) on that side of the family and up to you. Your children, if you have any, can not claim the nationality. Regards.

Hi Moonwalker, my mother was also born in Italy and so was my dad but they natulized in Australia and have renounced their right to Italian citizenship. I have been told by the Italian consulate in Australia that I am unable to get my passport even when my older brother and sister both have dual citizenship. who would I have to speak to as I am in Europe at the moment currently working in the UK but apparenty the Consulate here is only for Italians residing in the UK they won't even allow me to make an appointment. Cheers
