  • A little of both. When I have a nice dream I remember the sensual more than the psycological aspects. When I have a nightmare I remember the psycological more than the sensual.
  • If it's predominantly sensual then that will be my strongest impression on awakening but I will still try to analyze it to understand the underlying meaning. I tend to think we 'direct' our own dreams, a bit like the producer of a play. I also look at all elements to discover what, (symbollically) parts of me they were representing. For me, everything counts, since I created the dream to tell me something of my unconscious concerns. I was a psychotherapist and find that Gestalt is a fascinating and insightful approach to dream analysis. It works for me. But different people have different understandings, of course. I'm also very interested in Carl Jung's dream symbolism and archetypes, his theories of the collective unconscious and that's another way to discover meaning in what we dream. I'm a great fan of the dream journal.
