  • Jesus had several ways that he reached people. Sometimes he would just walk up to somebody and say, "Follow me" and that person would follow him. Just before Jesus ascended to Heaven, he commanded his disciples, "...Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." So going door to door helps. Jehovah's Witnesses go door to door. However they have a book that they call a Bible which is not a Bible. Once a Jehovah's Witness told me that Jesus is not God. I said, "Give me your 'Bible' and I'll show you that Jesus is God." The Bible says in John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." To my shock and disbelief, I found that the JW's New World Translation says in John 1:1 "In the beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god." Very clearly not the same.
  • Village to village, always publicly.
  • He did not need to
  • Preaching activity was an essential part of worship for christians, a means of praising God, a requisite to the gaining of salvation. (Ro 10:9, 10; 1Co 9:16; Heb 13:15; compare Lu 12:8.) As such, it was to be shared in by all disciples, men and women, down till “the conclusion of the system of things.”—Mt 28:18-20; Lu 24:46-49; Ac 2:17; compare Ac 18:26; 21:9; Ro 16:3. The apostle Paul was commissioned by Jesus and at Acts 20:20 he said he went "house to house".
  • Yes, but he never checked his crib notes.
  • He did didnt he !
  • The JWs and Mormons are doing what Jesus asked his disciples to do - go two by two into the villages preaching the Kingdom of God. Although I totally disagree with their theology, I can't fault their apostolic zeal.
  • NO he did not nead to becouse people often crouded round him long befor he even entered the villages. but he did send his deciples door to door and told them to stay with the frist family they meet that wanted to listen (the Jews had a custum of hosptatlity).
  • No, Jesus did not have to. The crowds came to him. Many of those people were fickle, only caring to see miracles preformed. It is clear though that Christ Jesus formed and set in motion a preaching organization – the Christian congregation. That is how the Bible clearly shows how true Christians obeyed the words of the Christ in the First Century. Later, as the apostasy came, wicked and ambitious men (the clergy class) took control of the congregations taking titles for themselves, doing all of the teaching and preaching while the lazy laity sat by and paid them to do all of the work. But that is NOT the model that Christ left for us. Jesus said in Acts1:8 “but YOU will receive power when the holy spirit arrives upon YOU, and YOU will be witnesses of me both in Jerusalem and in all Ju•de´a and Sa•mar´i•a and to the most distant part of the earth.” Earlier he had said at Matthew 28:19,20 “ Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” Now look at Acts 5:42 In YOUR Bible “ And every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.” And Acts 20:20 ” while I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house” Paul wrote: ‘Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel! (1 Co 9:16). If you consider yourself a true Christian, you so not shrink back from your duty to share the grand and glorious good news about God’s Kingdom through Christ Jesus. “I am not ashamed of the good news; it is, in fact, God’s power for salvation to everyone having faith.”—ROMANS 1:16.
  • What about the matter of Jesus instructing his apostles to go out and preach to people's homes, in Matthew 10:9-14 ? The context shows the primary emphasis to be speaking in the matter of lodging, not about a door-to-door activity. Verse 11 says "Stay there until you leave." Another wards, "When you come to a town or village, look for someone trustworthy and stay in that one house only, until you leave the town to return back to me. Luke 10:7 states it this way, "Do not be transferring from house to house." Again, when you go to the village, do not be transferring from house to house, but find a hospitable household and stay in that one house, until it is time to leave the village and return back to me. As Phillips Modern Translations renders this verse: "Wherever you go, whether it is into a town or a village, find out someone who is respecting, and stay with him until you leave." Secondly, there were three specific actions to perform when following Jesus words at Mark 6:6-13. "........ to preach, expel many demons and grease many sickly people with oil and cure them." Do we see Jehovah's Witnesses "expelling demons, and greasing sickly people with oil, curing them ?" No we do not, and yet they insistently and forcefully acknowledge themselves as the only true Christians, following Jesus words above and yet solely applying them to a doctrinal preaching of door to door sacrifice. Where can a line be drawn between the allowance of doctrinal preaching and the non existent demon expulsions and healing others with oil ? A third point of interest is the content of the teaching the apostles were to preach. The message was to preach "the kingdom of the heavens are near." At that time, which was before Pentecost 33 CE, the apostles and disciples did not fully understand the meaning of this message. For soon man would be reconciled with God through the blood of his son, Christ, who would soon have the name of God, "a name above all others" and begin "ruling as king" in the "superior position" of God, on his father's very throne. Now all persons on earth would have the opportunity to become a (Spiritual) Jew and could be one of God's children, his chosen race. The message was not about a detailed governmental arrangement with a future date, 1914, where Jesus Christ would rule invisibly until his coming. There were no elaborate question and answer Bible studies and there were no organizational requirements to pass in order to be baptized. (Phil 2) Where did Paul teach and make converts according to All the accounts ? At Pentecost in a Public Place (Acts 2:1-41) In the Synagogue (Acts 13:44-48, 17:1-4) At a River (Acts 16:13) In a Jail (Acts 16:23-40) The Market Place (Acts 17-16-34)
  • It was cave to cave back then. Hey nothing changes in the middle east they still live in caves.
  • Consider what Jesus said his true followers would be doing in our time: “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” He also instructed his followers: “Go . . . and make disciples of people of all the nations.”—Matt. 24:14; 28:19. Matt. 10:7, 11-12) verse 11) “Into whatever city or village YOU enter, search out who in it is deserving, and stay there until YOU leave. verse 12) When YOU are entering into the house, greet the household; 13 and if the house is deserving, let the peace YOU wish it come upon it; but if it is not deserving, let the peace from YOU return upon YOU. The apostle Paul said regarding his ministry: “I did not hold back from telling you any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching you publicly and from HOUSE to HOUSE.”—Acts 20:20
  • Did JESUS preach from "house to house"? No. He did not. In addition to not one Gospel writer stating that he did, we have his own direct tesimony to demonstrate that he did not. John 18:19, 20 — And so the chief priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching. Jesus answered him: "I have spoken to the world publicly. I always taught in a synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews come together; and I spoke nothing in secret." And, indeed, the Gospel record of his ministry bears this out. He spoke to his DISCIPLES privately, but in the course of MAKING disciples he always spoke publicly. Mark 1:21-28; 35-39; 6:1-6; 14:48, 49; Luke 4:42-44; 13:10-17; 19:47, 48; 21:37, 38; John 7:14-24; 8:1, 2; 18:19, 20 There are only three references in the entire New Testament that refer to "house to house", and in one of them Jesus says, "Do not keep transferring from house to house." In Luke 10:7 - It says do not go door to door. Look it up. The problem is that once you are prejudiced toward a scriptural passage you can make it say whatever u want. If you grew up with a different religous background you would believe what you had been taught from that religion. Acts 5:17-21; 41, 42; 9:19-22; 13:13-15; 14:1-3; 17:16-22; 18:24-28; 19:8-10; Acts 21:27-32 ALL these references cite either markets, Temples, or synagogues as the places where they were preaching and teaching. One of them mentions "and from house to house" as an ADDITIONAL method of teaching, but not as a primary method. If a Jehovah's Witness currently went REGULARLY to a Jewish synagogue or Temple to preach on Sabbath they could expect to get disfellowshipped for Interfaith, a classification of apostasy among Jehovah's Witnesses. The phrase "publicly and from house to house" would be like saying, "publicly and privately", yet JWs teach that their house to house ministry IS a public ministry. Jehovah's Witnesses ARE NOT following the model Jesus left in the manner of their preaching. They disfellowship people who follow the primary model of the 1st Century Christians. Check the Scriptural references I cited and you will know I am not lying to you. However, you HAVE been lied to.
  • Exactly. Jehovah's Witnesses are not following Jesus' example. The word Christian means literally "Christ Like" or like Christ. How can one claim to be a Christian and not be like Christ? And yes the apostles did exactly as Jesus. They drew crowds and taught in public places. Reference the following scriptures: The Apostles preached everywhere and all the time taking every opportunity for preaching the Holy Gospel. They preached in synagogues (Acts 9:20, 13:5, 14:1, 17:1, 10, 17, 18:4, 19, 19:8),schools (Acts 19:9&10), courts and places of governors (Acts 13:7, 24:24&25, 26:28), in jail (Acts 16), markets and public places (Acts 17:17-19),on rivers banks (Acts 16:13), and on Roman campus (Acts 21:40 and 22:1-21). I know it's unthinkable that out of the almost 7 billion people alive that u have the golden ticket of truth while everyone else is just plain old misled and their all duped. Why couldn't you be? We all believe what we've been taught our whole lives. If you were born in a Muslim country you'de be Muslim and you'de die for the "truth" taught by Mohammad. Any religion or anyone at all that tried to control what you read what you watch, how you dress, the language you use and in general tries to control your access to infomation always has something to hide. Anyone who is certain they have the truth would never be afraid to listen with an open mind when their own beliefs are being brought under scrutiny. I hope you find your way to accept your responsiblity to as the scriptures say "put all things to the test". You can't really put something to the test if your not allowed to question it or challenge it. Have a great day everyone
  • Jesus is such a gentleman, He say's behold I stand at the door & knock but He also said, Luke 10:7 Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Don't go from house to house. Paul said Acts 20:20 how I didn't shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house, but he was INVITED & it was scheduled!!!! I am a Christian & having someone turn up uninvited unexpectedly when I am in the middle of something & not ready to receive them is the same as 'cold calling'. It is forcing a situation & grieves the Holy Spirit when people feel embarressed. All things MUST be done in Love. Matthew 22:39 A second likewise is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself. It would be interesting to see the reaction of a Jehovah's witness etc to my turning up at their doorstep whenever I felt like it.
  • It is very simple. Jesus is the 'perfect gentleman' and It just goes against Jesus Love law to turn up uninvited or 'cold call' someones house.James 2:8 If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you do well: If you don't like people just turning up at your house uninvited, don't do it to others. • No. People come to him. My 2 cents.
