In whose eyes? I don't think in the eyes of God it is a sin to attend another church. God does not have a denomination, after all.

For me it's not really about whether he sinned or not because I'm not in agreement of either of those faiths anyways, but it's a matter of his willingness to compromise his faith for secular advancement. If his faith says its a sin and he is strong in his faith, he should be able to say no to attending with the Personnel Manager if he was asked. If his goal is to advance secularly and that trumps his faith, then he's got bigger faith problems than whether or not he sinned by attending another church. He needs to worry about how far will he stretch his faith to get there? To the breaking point? To where he chooses his job over God? A person's view of sin is relative to his belief system. To some he sinned to other's he didn't. God makes that determination, we don't. We get an idea through the bible, but God makes the call. For me, there are doctrinal differences that put both of them as unacceptable to me, so it doesn't matter to me which one he attended.

Going to any church for reasons other than to learn God's Word and for fellowship is pointless. Also, just because someone is Catholic and they attend another church is not wrong only if the other church preaches the good word. Any Church that tells you not to attend somewhere that preaches straight out of the Bible is false church. Do NOT get stuck on tradition as a lot of Catholics do. Challenge what you see and do while you are attending and see if it matches up with what the Bible says. If it does not you need to speak up and/or move out. The Bible says there are Weeds(tares) in every church that are there to pollute the good crops. (Matt.13:24-30). They will drag you down with them and their Feel Good Gospel and unwillingness to change traditions not found in the Bible.

Sin is an interesting word, however, there is an interesting verse in Romans 14. 'If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.'

He did not sin according to the Catholic church. The Roman Catholic Church promotes ecumenism and does allow catholics to attend other services (even non-christian ones) as the church believes this helps us better understand each other. The only stipulation the church puts on these visits is that sacraments should not be received by a Catholic in another church but uniting in prayer is certainly encouraged.

I don't think so. I routinely attend several different churches of different denominations, because I find its a great way to find dates, and I'm not picky about religion, and I don't consider it wrong, so long as I put my offering in the plate.(yes I know this will get a few comments)
