  • Note: This is my opinion, informed by my beliefs. Others may heartily disagree! Christians SHOULD celebrate Easter more, because that is the seal of approval on Jesus' life, guaranteeing our own resurrections someday. It is God saying that he accepted Jesus' sacrifice, and that he approves. Without Easter, any other Christian holiday would be meaningless! (for Biblical backup, check out I Corinthians 15) Christians DO celebrate Christmas more in general for two reasons: It is worthy to celebrate it. I see no reason not to- although Jesus probably wasn't born on Dec. 25, it's as good a day as any to set aside and remember the accounts of his birth, and how amazing it is that God would become man. The other reason: Christians have bought into the secular aspects of Christmas, like Santa Clause and gift giving. These things in themselves are just fine, in my opinion, but overplayed. The world in general loves Christmas more than Easter, and many Christians have fallen for it. I mean, who wouldn't love the story of giving gifts? Or even the Biblical accounts of Jesus' birth in a stable? On the other hand, Easter isn't cute. It shows what our sins deserve- what Jesus endured on the cross. No one likes hearing they deserve that. And you can't have Easter without Jesus dying on the cross- at least, not a Biblical one! Easter Bunny aside.
  • Christians are called to worship God, Easter and Christmas do not come into God's economy. They are man made anniversary's which help some to focus on the incarnation, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That is the regular responsibility of the local congregation that gathers week by week. I would say Christians should worship together at least every Sunday to thank God for His grace.
