and judaism stemmed from ancient egyptian beliefs, people don't like hearing that.

The problem is that they claim mutually exclusive things about God. Christians believe Jesus is the Messiah and God, that He died in our place to pay the price for our sin, and that He rose again. This is cornerstone for Christian belief. Judaism believes Jesus is not the Messiah, definitely not God, that he did die, but that he did not rise again. Islam believes Jesus is the Messiah, definitely not God but just a prophet and some believe he did NOT die. To Muslims, Muhammad was the greatest prophet, but Jews and Christians don't acknowledge him as a prophet.

What a wonderful world it would be if that question could be answered.

Judaism holds certain truths about the nature of God. These include that God is one. Judaism rejects the notion that the Messiah has come to earth yet for many reasons, including the simple fact that the world is not at peace. Judaism states that one can atone for sin through praying for forgiveness. Judaism accepts other religious groups that follow the 7 Noahide laws. Christianity believes in the Trinity, that God manifests Himself as God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. Christians believe the only way to atone for sin is through blood, specifically the blood of Jesus. Christians historically attacked Jews on the accusation of Deicide. From Wiki: "As a part of Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), the Roman Catholic Church under Pope Paul VI issued the declaration Nostra Aetate ("In Our Time"), which in part repudiated the doctrine of Jewish guilt for the Crucifixion." Christians believe that if you do not believe in Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour, you will go to hell. Islam believes that Judaism and Christianity were once revealed religions, however Christians and Jews manipulated their sacred texts. One such example of this alleged manipulation is in Genesis where the Patriarch Abraham was about to sacrifice his son for God. Jews and Christians believe that Abraham was going to sacrifice Issac, while Muslims believe that Abraham was going to sacrifice Ishmael. All religions believe that God prevented the sacrifice at the last moment. The child that was to be sacrificed inherited God's covenant for the land of Israel. Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet, this is in contradiction to Judaism (which rejects Jesus as a profit) and Christianity (which views Jesus as God manifested on earth). Muslims believe that Mohammed was the "seal of the prophets". There is SO much more to this subject - but I will stop here. Feel free to ask questions if you have any.

He IS the same. The people who believe in him choose to believe that their version is more correct than the other guy's version. Chiefly because when anyone in power requires an army, the other guy's religion is the easiest method to get conscripts. It's been going on a long time, the crusades, the reformation, the rise of the nazis, the war on terror, etc. etc. etc. EDIT- Anonymous, thanks for the feedback. Yes I think you're right, many people of all 3 religions would disagree that the 3 religions have the same concept of God. It's just my own personal belief that the differences are insignificant. If it wasn't for people in power regurgitating the other guy's religious differences whenever they need an army, none of us would notice.

Humans are competitive by nature. The exclusivity of faith, combined with competitive impact result in man's intrinsic drive,a struggle to prevail.
-
People have a natural tendency to think they are right. On top of the fact we are a conflict based species. What would have been best is if no religions were created due to our need to fill in the gaps. As long as there are religions conflict will always rage with a backing that couldn't be matched if there were no religions.

Christianity did not "stem" from any religion. The word christian was first used by unbelievers in discribing the followers of Jesus. Jesus is, and was the fullfillment of all the law, and the prophets. All history before Jesus, points to and relates to the coming, and death, and ressurection of the Christ. All history after his death, and ressurection point back to Him, and what He did. It's all about Jesus. The entire Bible is pointing to Jesus, both old and new testaments. Being a "christian" is all about Jesus. It's not about religion, and which one is "right". No "religion" is "right", it's all about Jesus....period

Don't forget Zoroastrianism. It formed the basis for Christianity and Islam (dualism, judgement at death, heaven and hell, a savior born of a virgin, a final judgement, and resurrection).
