Flavour the Water

Water is one of the six nutrients we need to survive, it has no calories, fat or anything bad. It's basically the best thing you can drink at any time. It aides in detoxifying your body and keeping things running smoothly.

I used to hate water, but I found out that filtered, cold water with a slice of lemon is very good. I have been able to do away with most other beverages, and drink water instead. I keep a pitcher of water in the refrigerator. I do have a couple of cups of coffee each day, and the occasional glass of soda with a meal, but I keep a glass of water at my desk all day and night.

Bottled water, bottles of water all over the place in plain view. Things that make you thirsty (don't overdo salt). Fast movements and exercise that dehydrate you. Develop a habit: open eyes, 10 gulps and drink drink drink all day. Less food (depending on your weight), when hunger comes, substitute water sometimes.

Okay. Just last week, believe it or not on Oprah (!!!!) she had her Dr. Oz on and someone in the audience asked this very question. Well! SURPRISE -- SURPRISE! What good ole Dr. Oz said was ... 'This is all a myth: having to drink eight glasses of water a day! NO ONE that is harping this, especially the bottled water companies, tell you that the food you already eat has tons of water in it IF you are eating a healthy diet. There is tons of water in fruits and vegetables, salads and even meat! If you eat those and soup and smoothies and all that's good for you, you do not have to drink all the water that they are telling you to think you need! And, you know what? It made so much common sense to me I had to start laughing out loud! Boy-o-boy ... wonder what 'the next trend' will be? By the way, beloved and I eat really good food and plenty of it. Funny thing is neither of us is overweight either! Oh. I get it. = we only eat when we are hungary ... only as much as to make us feel full ... and we only occasionally eat sweets. Truth is (and lucky too I guess) neither of us HAVE a sweet tooth! Mmmm ... maybe its because our eyes virtually glaze over when we smell steak ... or potatoes ... or that SALAD we have with every meal (think WATER).

Place a bottle or tumbler of water beside your monitor. This will make sure that your eyes will not only glue to the computer, but also catch a sight of the water from time to time. Use some of your extra time and shop for an attractive tumbler that will downright catch your attention, whether it looks unusual or very cool. Use it disregarding where you are, as you will definitely love to have a grasp on your favorite bottle and have your drink from it.

Get rid of other options. If you have nothing else to drink, when you are thirsty, you will drink water.
