  • I don't think it's cruel but the dog should be let out to go to the bathroom a couple times a day.
  • I would offer the neighbor some money for her to take your dog for a walk 2 times a day if she's able. Or have someone else do it.
  • I think it largely depends on the breed. If you have a high energy dog, it might not adjust well to being left alone. I think that whomever you ask to take care of the dog should be willing to walk your pet a couple of times a day(or whatever type of exercise you provide) in addition to giving her food and water.
  • Where is the dog going to go potty? Is your house big enough for the dog to get some exercise in? I say if you can, leave him in the house but have the neighbor come over twice a day and have them walk the dog and feed it. They need more love and attention than just once a day. Otherwise, see if the dog can stay with the neighbor.
  • I don't see any reason why this would be a problem as long as there is someone willing to come over and feed your dog and let them out side to go to the bathroom; but I don't think once a day is enough. You don't want any accidents to happen while you are gone!
  • It is a much better plan than taking her to a kennel, but you need to hire someone to come in more often than once a day. When we had to do that, we hired a teen neighbor to come in once a day, and neighbor also came in once a day. That way one person didn't have to do all the work.
  • I always try to go somewhere where pets are allowed. If we had to go away for three days, we would hire a pet sitters service to let the dogs out 3 or 4 times a day and also have them feed the dogs and give them play time in the fenced in back yard.
  • I think you should give your dog to a close family member/friend who can take care of it just for a couple of days so you are assured of its safety...when i go out of town my mom gives my chiauaua to my grandpa for him to baby sit it...they will take good care of it i promise...or you could give it to the vets office for a lil bit
  • No, that is cruel. Either take him to a boarding kennel, have someone take him in, or have someone stay at your house with him.
  • Its fine and the dog is lucky to be treated that good.Maybee if you leave the TV on low.Watch it,it might drink all your beer!
  • I don't know about yours... but my dogs get angry when penned up for more than a day. Is there a kid in your neighborhood or building that would be responsible enough to come over and let the dog out/walk her a couple of times a day?
  • Get a new husband. This one is selfish.
  • when my lady and myself go away our two babies are left inside the house and we have a number of friends who come over at least 3 to 4 times a day to be with them and if possible we get someone to house sit with them ... so long as the neighbor comes over more than 2 or 3 times a day and spends sometime with your baby it should be ok ... but I don't mean 2 minutes either... have a cuppa.. and have a play and talk to the dog
  • Well tell him to clean up the s**t and dog urine when the both of you get back.
