Yes, absolutely, positively, yes, yes, yes. Don't do this with a cold sore present. I have even heard you can get it when that person doesn't have an active cold sore.

YES And, unfortunately, if the person has the oral herpes virus but does NOT have a current cold sore it can STILL happen. Symptoms do not need to be present (and weren't when it happened to me). Interesting statistic: did you know that the CDC's new stats show that a staggering 78% of new genital herpes cases are caused by the ORAL herpes virus hsv-1? Since hsv-1 is five times more infectious when on the mouth, it is likely most of those genital hsv-1 infections were caught through oral sex with a partner with oral herpes...
