  • Oh yeah. Pirates? Yeah, pirates are totally awesome. All the raping and killing and what-not. People are people though, and succumb to human mistakes. Thomas Jefferson for example. He did a lot of great things. He also did a lot of absolutely terrible things. I like to think that maybe we like to see the good side of people, but that's probably being overly-optimistic.
  • I think time makes you realize, above all, that good and evil are rather subjective. Looking at how something went without hearing the stories on each side can lend a new perspective.
  • I think the media tend to romanticize them because it sells movies, newspapers and tv commercial time. No body wants to hear the story of a truly rotten person all the time. We want to feel that there is some redeeming quality to latch onto and think they weren't much different from ourselves. Yes, and every story has at least 2 sides.
