  • To make the consumer think they are getting a better deal than what they really are so they will purchase the product anyway. Other than that....nothing....For all of the rebaits I have sent in...it has cost me more in time, effort, and stamps than I have ever received in anything back!
  • It's by and large a scam, as most companies in the US who use this tactic, rely on the majority of consumers not mailing in their rebate claim.
  • The hope that you forget until after the deadline and hence coerced a full-price sale out of you. There is probably a 50% or higher rate of negligence for mailing those damn things in.
